How to Do the Shimmy Hips Move in Belly Dancing
I know a lot of people want to learn how to shim. It is important to patient to be patient with the shimmies because it takes a while to adjust to the speed that you want them for a proper shim. There are shimmies that you can do like this. This looks more like a washing machine, so you are bringing your hip here and the other one to the front. But they are staying on the same level. You are not bringing one up or one down, same level, and then you just accelerate. This is the first shim. The second shim is when you are staying on the same spot but now you are going up and down. So this movement is done by your hips, right? So you are moving one hip up, one hip down, one hip up and one hip down. Good ways to practice this movement is by keeping your feet flat and by bring your hip up with the foot flat, and this is how you know you have the movernent. Later, when you can do this really well, you can start to do this shimmy and then accelerate just like this. Once you got this down, now this is only for the people that have been practicing for a while, once you have this, you go around.
